Temporary Surface Protection

Temporary surface protection helps shield construction sites and surfaces from harm, debris, and spills during construction, renovation, or maintenance, enhancing safety by lowering trip and fall risks compared to using floor protection boards that may buckle under heavy loads.

Description:

Temporary surface protection is a solution designed to safeguard construction sites and surfaces from damage, debris, and spills during various stages of construction, renovation, or maintenance projects. When compared to using floor protection boards during material handling, this solution can improve safety on construction sites by reducing the risk of trips and falls if the boards buckle under the material load.

Construction sites are dynamic environments where surfaces are vulnerable to damage from heavy foot traffic, equipment movement, spills, and other hazards. Traditional methods of surface protection, such as plastic boards, plywood, or plastic sheeting, are often inadequate, cumbersome, and time-consuming to install and remove.

Cover Guard®

Temporary Surface Protection, such as Cover Guard® is crafted from premium-grade materials, including recycled fibers and non-toxic adhesives, Cover Guard® Temporary Surface Protection is puncture-resistant and provides reliable protection against impacts, scratches, and abrasions, ensuring that surfaces remain in original conditions throughout the duration of the project.

The Cover Guard® orange protective material (figure 1) has non-flame retardant formulation which can be utilized in a wide range of applications where flame-resistant (FR) is not a requirement. The Cover Guard® blue protective material (figure 2) is flame retardant and compliant to NFPA 701 standards.

Risks Addressed:

Using floor protection boards during material handling can cause the boards buckle if they are not properly secured when the material load shifts the boards. These boards can be safety hazards to workers and visitors, increasing the risk of trips and falls.

How Risks are Reduced:

Temporary Surface Protection, such as Cover Guard®, consists of a roll of polyethylene material with an adhesive backing to ensure that surfaces remain intact in high-traffic areas or harsh environmental conditions. By offering greater continuity of surface protection and walking surfaces compared to floor protection boards, it reduces the risk of tripping over edges.

Additional Considerations:

As is the case with any construction tool, material and equipment, users should follow manufacturer safety recommendations and comply with any applicable local, state or federal regulations.
